Kibutz Parliament

I just witnessed the Kibutz way of making decisions. Since there is no "boss" in the Kibutz and there are too many people to all be in a meeting, they have a parliament. And since the people there are all Jews it kind of reminds me of the Japanese parliament except for the physical violence. Oh well it was good to see how the kibutz runs itself. And funny.
By the way I told Amichai (he runs our program on the kibutz) that I was very shocked that in the whole of the parliament there was only ONE woman (?!?!?!). Welcome back at the start of the 20th century...
Women and Men are equal on the kibutz (hey it is still socialism) but I guess that the orthodox women are just too busy taking care of the households and the work etc.
Oh today we had a genius lesson about what the destruction of the temple meant to Jews back in the day (and what it should mean to us). First we were asked to write down our biggest deepest strongest most personal dream on a piece of paper. In our own language. Then we all put the pieces of paper in a big can. And when Netanya started to talk about what it felt like for the Jews back in the day she lit the papers and we watched all our hopes and dreams go up, quite literary, in flames. And for the first time I understood the pain of watching your hopes burn up. To see someone coldbloodedly torch your biggest dreams is just... agonizing. It was perfect.
Oh well good bye for now again. I'm going to sleep so good night.

Klinkt net als Daniel Severijnse die ooit een sjiur gaf over de joden in de bezette gebieden die steeds verplaatst werden.
Hij liet ons een dorp bouwen van tafels en stoelen, en na een halfuur ben je dan klaar...gooit ie het allemaal om en moet je opnieuw beginnen...En dat deed ie 2x :P
Anyway, vrouwen staan stiekem in het jodendom nog wel onder mannen, dat weet je zelf ook ;) Niet dat het goed is, maar helaas is het wel zo...

A short add on the reply to your mail earlier; you see that something negative (even painful, as watching those dreams turn to ashes), really can teach you something..? I mean, I bet it wasn't fun to watch, but didn't it make you just another bit wiser..? Let me know x)
